Why drink kombucha?

Why drink Bruja Sana Kombucha?

Kombucha is a drink full of benefits that you should add to your diet — and I promise you'll love it!

Remember when people bought their soda in a glass bottle, and when they took it out of the fridge ice-cold and opened it, it went something like "psssss" and the first sip was Ahhh!?

Well, drinking kombucha is something like that — but instead of putting gas and sugar into your body, you're putting in thousands of probiotics and vitamins that, inside your body, work to keep your gut flora in balance.

Whoever said you can't have it all in this life… never knew kombucha.

Kombucha does your body a lot of good because it's a ferment, and ferments are full of enzymes that aid digestion and nutrient absorption — that's why drinking it sets off a cascade of benefits in your body.

Strengthening your immune system, detoxifying your liver, boosting your energy, and even reducing your stress levels are some examples of the benefits of drinking kombucha.

And the reality is that every day there are new studies making the list of benefits of drinking kombucha longer and longer.

Kombucha is at its peak right now; society seems to be turning toward healthier lifestyles and paying more attention to health, so you've surely seen people drinking it, recommending it, or calling it their favorite drink.

But even though it's a trendy product, don't think it was invented yesterday. Kombucha has existed for centuries — probably a couple of millennia — but it's so old that no one knows exactly; I'll just tell you that Cleopatra drank it.

Besides being a ferment, kombucha is a living drink — yes, it sounds strange, but it's alive, just as yogurt is, for example. In fact, kombucha and yogurt contain the same friendly bacterium, Lactobacillus acidophilus, a bacterium that eats lactic acid and produces probiotics.

But unlike yogurt, kombucha needs a part that makes it very special — the famous SCOBY, or kombucha mushroom. That's why, when you drink your kombucha, you see bits of SCOBY floating or settled at the bottom.

These bits are part of the symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast used in the brewing process. In short, this guarantees that your kombucha is high quality and has a high concentration of probiotics, vitamins, enzymes, minerals, and organic acids that will fill your body with health.

If you're not familiar with kombucha and ferments aren't yet part of your daily routine, you might wonder whether it's safe to drink something that has fermented, or how you could tell whether your kombucha fermented correctly or safely.

It's a very common question. I always recommend drinking it from a well-known brand, such as Bruja Sana Kombucha, or other brands on the market that make kombucha while guaranteeing the safety and quality of the drink.

Thanks for reading — until the next brew!
